Good Morning, Venice

View Larger Map Take a look at the map, look way down on the left bottom side, you will see two streets Viale IV Novembre and Viale Piave S. Elena. They intersect at a point. That point is exactly where our apartment building is located.  Just to the right of Viale Piave S. Elena is a canal, and across the canal is the Francesco Morosini Scuola Navale Militare, the Naval Academy.

Every morning at precisely 1 minute to 8, the Naval Academy begins the day by playing the Italian National Anthem, Inno di Mameli (or Fratelli di Italia), over the loudspeakers.  Makes me want to jump out of bed, stand at attention and salute.  Every morning. I love it.  To give you a little peek into what my mornings are like now, click the link below and give a listen -

What is it about (some) national anthems that bring out those strong emotions? You got an unexpected bonus with your apartment, didn't you. :-)
