Bright sun, blue skies- perfect ingredients for my mission of the day - get some more Carnevale costume photos. I was not disappointed!! I came home with over 100 fantastic shots, and just couldn't decide how to pare that down to just a few for a blog post today.

Wow Karen, what great photos. Sure envy you being there to see the real Carnevale. We have an event with our Italian Cultural Society on Tuesday evening -- masks required but I bet it won't be as colorful as the real thing. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteKaren, once again, you have captured some great shots!!! I love the one of the lady sitting alone on the bench with her head down. Oh, but really, I love them all, are there more??? You should think about selling your prints or making them into a calendar!
ReplyDeleteGrazie, Sandra!!! Always more photos, i take hundreds!
DeleteBeautiful photos, thanks. I saw some photos from the Carnevale years ago and promised myself to see it with my own eyes sometime. . For my 50th birthday I came to Venice for the Carnevale with my husband and thorougly enjoyed it. Have made several visits to Venice, even attending a language course and hope there will be many more. Best regards from a very snowy Finland!
ReplyDeleteThose photos are great! They really give “faces” to the word Carnevale. But I’d like to ask you one question- I have read that most of the people at the Venice carnival are not from Venice – is that true? are they mostly from other parts of Italy or other countries?
ReplyDeleteThat is true. A lot come from France. The people in the fancy costumes are generally not Venetians.
ReplyDeleteDo you mind if I print some of your photos to show my class (4 and 5 year olds) tomorrow? We have a grandmother coming in to read us a story about Carnevale in the morning and I thought that maybe I could add some photos to it. I won't use them for anything else.
ReplyDeleteJodi- sure! I'm honored!
ReplyDeleteWe missed coming due to flight cancellation, as you know Karen, so these photos are the next best thing. Thank you so much. I looked on the Piazza webcam and it was busy at 4pm for the flag flight but the evening looked very quiet. Perhaps it looked busier on the ground
ReplyDeleteOh I do love those blue and yellow boots, rather green (!) with envy!
